The first season of Star Academy was aired early in December 2003 and soon became so popular that tickets to the Star Academy Lebanon show became prized commodities. The candidates of this show, especially those who made it to the Top 8, became household names and instant celebrities. They performed concerts in many Arab cities like Cairo, Dubai, Kuwait, Alexandria, Damascus, Amman, etc. The winner of the first season of Star Academy Lebanon was Mohammad Attia from Egypt. Many of the Top 8 of Star Academy Season 1 released their own albums but the most successful has been Ahmed El Sherif from Tunisia, even though he was ranked at the 5th place in Star Academy Lebanon. The second season of Star Academy began on 31st December 2004 and ended on 15th April 2005. This wasn’t a very popular season because many thought that the students were not up to standard.
Some of them were not very serious about the show and only a few students seemed to be improving as Star Academy progressed. Even the victory of the finalist, Hisham Abdulrahman from Saudi Arabia, was regarded as unfair because other students, like Amani from Tunisia, seemed more talented. . Eventually, Amani was recruited by a well-known music company and she even recorded her own album later. Many improvements were made to the third season of Star Academy, which began in mid-December 2005. There were new teachers and new lessons and instead of 8 women and 8 men, there were 10 men and 9 women. Joseph Attieh won Star Academy Season 3 and was the first Lebanese to win it.
